Everything you might want to know — and a real person if you don't see it.
Giving & volunteering
How your money is spent, how to lend a hand, and how to make every pound go further.
Straight into the neighbourhood. For every £1 you give, 88p goes directly to running gardens, youth clubs, wellbeing sessions and elder visits; the rest keeps the lights on, the insurance current and the safeguarding watertight. We publish a full, plain-English breakdown in our annual report each year.
Fill in the Get involved form and tell us what you'd enjoy. We'll match you to a programme near you, run a friendly welcome session, and arrange a DBS check where your role needs one. You can give as little as two hours a month — no experience required, just a bit of warmth.
Either suits us perfectly. A regular monthly gift helps us plan ahead and keep programmes running all year, while a one-off donation makes an immediate difference. You can set up, pause or change a monthly gift any time over on our Ways to give page.
If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets us claim an extra 25% on your donation from HMRC — at no cost to you. That means a £10 gift becomes £12.50 for the neighbourhood. Just tick the Gift Aid box when you donate and we'll handle the rest.
Absolutely. From a one-off team volunteering day to a year-long partnership that funds a whole programme, we'll build something that fits your team and your values. Take a look at Partner with us, or use the form to start a conversation.
Programmes & safety
Who can take part, what it costs, and how we keep everyone safe and welcome.
Yes — every programme is free at the point of need. No referral, no means test, no catch. They're funded entirely by donations, partnerships and grants, which is exactly why the support of people like you matters so much.
None at all. Whether you're picking up a trowel for the first time, joining a walking group or coming along to a wellbeing session, our volunteer hosts will show you the ropes. Everyone's welcome, exactly as they are.
Keeping young people safe comes before everything else. Every member of staff and volunteer working with children is DBS-checked and safeguarding-trained, we keep safe staffing ratios, and we have a named safeguarding lead and clear policies you're welcome to ask to see at any time.
We're active across 24 neighbourhoods and growing. Pop your nearest area into the Get involved form and we'll tell you what's running close by — and if we're not on your street yet, we'll let you know how to help bring us there.
We are. Commonwell is a registered charity governed by a board of local trustees, with full safeguarding, insurance and DBS procedures in place across every programme. Our accounts and annual report are published openly each year.

Whether you give a little each month or roll up your sleeves on a Saturday, you help the next garden, club and friendship take root.
